We feel it is quite important to give massage therapists some advice too on how a client who is paying good money for a service is to be treated. We have been to many massage parlours where we have experienced a rushed service or a massage therapist who does not seem friendly or approachable. There have been times when the massage has been great but due to the temperament of the masseuse it has ruined the whole experience.
Below are some tips that will come in handy for any massage therapists who are thinking to offer their services or for anyone who already does.
- Please try and provide a clean and comfortable environment catering to your clients needs. Add the extra touch of great service by asking the client beforehand how warm they prefer the massage room to be. It is ideal to have a candle lit room with soft relaxing music to add to the experience.
- Ask your client what type of massage they would like, and whether they would like you to focus on any certain areas they have been having issues with. Of course different people like differing pressures of massage, therefore it is best to ask your client if they want the massage with medium pressure or any other strength suitable to them.
- Give your client an overview of the stages of the massage explaining how their alloted time will be spent.
- Ensure your client is comfortable and relaxed. Afterall a massage should be a relaxing activity offering serenity and tranquility.
- Smile! Yes, this is super important and can make or break the overall experience. Be friendly as they have paid to get an amazing relaxing experience.
- If your client wishes to engage in conversation during the massage then allow this, if they wish to remain silent then also allow this.
- Take your time with the massage and do not portray you are rushing to finish the massage
- Do not allow any interruptions, we have been in many massage sessions where the therapist has started texting other clients or taking calls mid massage. It is unprofessional.
- Offer your client sufficient time after the massage to get dressed, many a time we have had to rush and get dressed in 1 minute before the therapists next client arrives. Leave enough time between your appointments.
- Be amazing, offer a great massage and a great experience and you will surely have many many repeat clients.
